What are Stem Cells?

Stem cells live in the body and can change themselves to replace damaged or dying cells. At American Longevity Center, we use Mesenchymal stem cells, a form of adult stem cells, that are great for repairing tissues. Mesenchymal stem cells have the ability to change into different needed cells for organs, muscles, and nerves. Not only can these cells help in wound healing and cell loss, they can often help with the treatment of autoimmune diseases, liver function, bone damage, and more.

What is the Procedure?

During stem cell therapy, fat will be collected from the abdominal area. Our in-house lab will then extract the Mesenchymal stem cells from the fat, which will then be injected back into a targeted area of the body. The entire procedure takes about three hours to complete and is performed under local anesthesia in our professional operating room.

Most patients are able to return to work the day after their stem cell treatment. However, strenuous exercise should be avoided for at least five days after treatment. Discomfort is usually mild and is able to be controlled with pain medication such as Tylenol®.

While some patients may be able to notice results from their stem cell therapy within one week, results can take up to two months for others. A consultation with our experienced team can help to better determine what results you can expect to experience.
